Katie Namen, CPT
I have been working with dogs since 2012, when I started working at veterinary clinic. I moved to Columbus in 2013, started working as a kennel attendant at a local boarding and training facility, where I eventually completed the Master Trainer course and earned the title of Certified Professional Trainer. I continued working there as a trainer and assistant instructor at their school for dog trainers.
I have also worked as a dog groomer and a doggy daycare attendant.
Having worked for well-established companies, I have had the opportunity to train hundreds of dogs and help educate their owners. I have experience with a wide variety of breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including anxious, reactive, aggressive, and just plain stubborn. I also have experience with special-needs dogs both as a trainer and owner. I have worked with blind dogs, deaf dogs, and dogs with mobility issues.
Future
I adopted Future from the Franklin County Dog Shelter in October 2014, when she was six months old. She was found as a stray, with an injury to her leg, a minor heart murmur, and a handful of behavior issues including possessive aggression toward my older dog. Goose chasing, trash eating, play biting - you name it, Future tried it.
Future thrived with her obedience training and behavior modification, and though she still has a mischievous streak, she has become a model citizen. She loves dogs and people alike. She would love to meet you so that she can give you a hug and get some pets.
Some of Future’s favorite things include tennis balls, any kind of food, and attention.
